Baiwaw Garka- Baiwa in my language means world wind.
Koedal Augadhalaig- The Koedal is the last living dinosaur. Therefore, those people who are of that particular totem possess great knowledge of their cultural tradition
Koedalal ar Sapural- Sapural inhabit the thick mangroves that outline parts of the many different islands of Zenadh Kes.
Ariew Thurai Mabaig - Rain Caller- This particular member of a tribe has special spiritual connections with the Zugubal of their ancestors.
Bungu Mabaig- In a tribe or a clan, a certain person is given the duty to blow the Bu (trumpet shell) for different occasions.
Murai- Murai is a description in Kala Lagaw Ya language for the size of a turtle.
Dhangal Launga Mizin- The Dhangal (dugong) is a very powerful mammal that inhabits the tropical blue waters surrounding the Torres Strait Islands.
Gubau Aimai Mabaigal- Gubau Aimai Mabaigal means “Wind Makers” in the Maluilgal Zenadh Kes language.
Zugubal- Zugubal is plural for Zugub. The Zugubal in the western Zenadh Kes (Torres Strait) looked like humans while they inhabited the island world...
Akulan Guraik- This person has been sent by his elders to collect Akul (mussel).
Waru Patkai Danalaig- This particular print is based on the life cycle of the Waru (greenback turtle).
Mulungu- Malungu means from the sea in the language Kala Lagaw Ya of the Maluilgal in Zendh Kes.
Gubau Goeyga- This song is based on a song about the Gubau Goeyga (sun of the wind) that was composed by my grandfather Waipila Tipoti, also known as Athe Soka.
Aingu Uthuy Mabaig- The title translates as ‘gardener’. It is based on a person who spends most of his days working hard planting his crops in his garden beds.
Gagiyiew Maril- This print shows the energy and force of the Gagai (bow) when it is pulled.
Aralpaia A Zenikula- This legend was recorded in the Kala Lagaw Ya language in 1994.
Koedal Kazil Garr Yatharmik - The title translates to ‘crocodile protecting its young’. Garr Yatharmik is an ancient yet important phrase in my language. It literally means ‘tying it close to the body’, in other words, to protect.
Gapul- Gapu is our language name for the Suckerfish (Ramora).
Kudlukal- Kudlukal is plural for Kudluk (Mourning Dove). Kudlukal are seen throughout the Islands of Zenadh Kes.
Kirisal- Kirisal is plural for Kiris (lorikeet) in the Maluiligal language of the Zenadh Kes nation.
Wadth, Zigin Ar Kusikus- As a result from Zigin actions and belief, Torres Strait Islanders never expose their turtles to the moon
